Siracusa.

Two married American couples with a shared history meet up in Rome to holiday together in Syracuse, Sicily. Add in a strange child, the fact that both marriages are in trouble and the arrival of a possessive lover and you know that things are going to come to a tumultuous end...

In Siracusa Delia Ephron deftly portrays the unravelling of marriages and friendships. Told from alternating points of view of the main characters this smartly written book was full of evocative writing that made the characters realistic and brought to life the Italian settings with it's detailed descriptions of meals and architecture.

I loved Siracusa, it was a smartly written book that would easily make an excellent screen play.
