The Bathroom Shelf: August 2017.

Normally I post a picture of my bathroom shelf with comments every six months but this time around I'm a little tardy - the last time I did so was in January. I like to do this to compare and contrast the products on the shelf and see what I've finished, what I'm still using, what's new and what I have repurchased. 

In addition to this shelf I have a cupboard under the sink and a medicine cabinet with unopened back up and replacement products as well as a selection of things that I am trying to use up sitting on the counter top next to my sink. Body care, shampoos and conditioners live in my bath area and I have a separate vanity in my bedroom where I keep my make up, along with skincare samples.

On the top shelf my Nest scent diffuser is still going strong. In front of that I have a sun screen spray for my body and a mineral spritz that I also use for my body. One of the two make up bags contains lip balms and face mask samples, the other contains samples of haircare. In the center is my current facial SPF, Lancome Bienfait UV. On the right side are a selection of hairsprays, leave in conditioners and texturisers.

On the left of the middle shelf is my current selection of perfumes. (I know a bathroom isn't the ideal storage space for them but my apartment is quite bright and this is one of the few places that doesn't get any natural light.) I haven't finished any up from before but I have two new Diptyque fragrances here, Oud Palao and Eau Duelle. 

Next are my moisturisers, Shiseido Ibuki, Zelens 3t Complex and Darphin Exquisage Cream. (I have almost finished the Shiseido and Zelens). Then there is my current eye cream Darphin Stimulskin Plus Divine Eye Cream, three night serums/oils - Sunday Riley Good Genes (this is always on my shelf), Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM (which I have finally nearly finished), and Kypris 1,000 Roses Elixir. My daytime serum is also here, Darphin Exquisage Serum. 

From the left on the bottom shelf are pots with cotton wool pads, cotton buds and tooth flossers. Then there is my daytime toner which is Mario Badescu Aloe, Herb and Rosewater Spray and two night time exfoliating toners - an almost empty pot of Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Xtreme Pads and a bottle of P50 1970 (yes I finally bought a bottle and it is as fabulous as I expected with impressive results, so of course, I'm mad I didn't get it before!). I have another bottle of my favourite eye make up remover, Kiehls Extra Gentle Eye Make Up Remover and then some summer friendly cleansers, Tata Harper Purifying Cleanser, Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel and a small bottle of May Lindstrom Pendulum Potion. Finally behind the cleansers is a tube of Acure Brightening Facial Scrub.

Here's a picture of my shelf in January and I'm surprised how much change there is this time around. With the exception of the perfumes and some of the hair products almost everything is different. The only products duplicated are the Nip+Fab Pads and Good Genes, and both of those are products that have been replaced rather than being the exact same ones!

The Bathroom shelf, January 2017.

Every six months or so I check in and share a look at what is currently on my bathroom shelf. (I find it interesting to see which products I have swapped out and which ones I have repurchased or may still be using). I also have extra skincare items in my bathroom medicine cabinet but these tend to be either things that are unopened or things that I only use occasionally. Recently, I have been keeping almost empty products right next to my sink as I find I tend to concentrate on using them up if they are somewhat in the way!

Above is my current bathroom shelf, the lower photo is the shelf as it was in June 2016.

Currently the top shelf (starting from the left) has a scent diffuser and a couple of facial sprays. 

The facial sprays are all different as I tend to use these up fairly quickly and like to try out different ones. 

The two make up bags contain samples, one has face masks and lip balms, the other has products for hair and body - I am currently trying to work my way through some of my hair care and body samples as I have accumulated quite a lot of them of late. 

Finally on this shelf are my hair care products: hair sprays, salt sprays, texturising sprays and dry shampoos along with leave in conditioners and treatments. The hair products are all exactly the same the only difference is that I am using a mini tube of Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream instead of a full sized one. (With the exception of a leave in cream I don't use hair products daily so they always last me for some time).

The middle shelf holds my perfumes, day and nighttime moisturisers, eye creams, serums, facial oils and a couple of masks.

My perfume selection remains the same. 

All the moisturisers and eye creams are different. I do miss having Sarah Chapman Daily Defense Moisturiser to hand so I will repurchase that at some point. As for serums, Sunday Riley Good Genes is still on the shelf this time around (of course) although it is a new bottle but  I'm still working my way through the same bottle of Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM (most likely because I love using Good Genes so much I rarely pick up any other night time serum!).

Last time it looked as if I were endeavoring to use up a lot of mini serums during the day, this time I am back to using my favourite serum for daytime, Sarah Chapman Intense Hydrating Booster. Unfortunately it is running low and I will be replacing it with something else soon as I have other hydrating serums in stock to use up before I repurchase it. 

I finally finished my bottle of Sunday Riley Artemis Oil which I enjoyed a lot - it did a great job of balancing my skin and I am sure I will buy this again before too long. This time around however I replaced it with Caudalie Vinosource Overnight Recovery Oil purely because I fancied a change. I'm still working my way through Aurelia Cell Repair Night Oil which is lovely to use and smells wonderful. I use this regularly but it is a huge bottle and a little of it goes a long way so it may still be on the shelf next time around!!

I have maybe half an application of Caudalie Glycolic Mask left but have to confess to not even having opened Unani Dermo Defense Mask yet.

The bottom shelf has cotton wool cotton buds and flossers in old candle jars along with sunscreen, glycolic toning liquid and pads, a softening toner and some face washes.  

The glycolic toners are the same, although that is a new tub of Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Night Pads Extreme, I really like the Nip+Fab pads, they are easy to use and great value for money. 

Surprisingly this time around I don't have a bottle of my favourite Kiehl's Ultra Facial Toner on the shelf. Instead I have been using Dr Dennis Gross C+Collagen Mist.

Cleansers are the products that I tend to change around the most and this time they are all different to before. After an absence from my shelf I'm enjoying using Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip again so much I think I may have to make this a staple in my cleansing wardrobe. MV Organics 9 Oil Cleansing Tonic is almost empty, I have loved using this whenever my skin feels compromised but will be replacing it with May Lindstrom Pendulum Potion, a similar product which I have waiting to be opened. 

Overall not too much has changed in the last six months or so, I may finally be developing a loyalty to certain products it seems!

The Bathroom Shelf S/S 2016

Time to check in and take a look at what is on my bathroom shelf at the moment. (I do this every six months or so as I find it interesting to see which products I have swapped out and which ones I have repurchased. I have extra skincare items in my bathroom cabinet but these tend to be unopened products or ones that I use infrequently - the ones on the shelf are the ones that I reach for on a regular basis.

As before the top shelf (starting from the left) has a scent diffuser and facial sprays. The two make up bags contain samples, one has face masks, lip balms and facial exfoliators and the other has hair care and bath and body products. Finally on this shelf are my hair care products: hair sprays, leave in conditioners, salt sprays and volumisers.

The middle shelf has my perfume collection, daily moisturisers, a vertical stack of eye creams then serums and facial oils and a couple of larger sized tubes of masks.

The bottom shelf has some empty candle holders with Muji cotton pads and cotton buds and dental flossers. Then the rest of my current skincare: facial sunscreen, exfoliating toners, Kiehl's  Ultra Facial Toner and the four cleansers that I am currently using.

...I feel that although there are some staples there it has changed quite a bit.

 There are more hair products and a couple of new perfumes. 

Nude Radiant Day Moisturiser, Sunday Riley Good Genes and Kiehl's Ultra Facial Toner are all newly repurchased bottles so I obviously really, really like these! 

I'm currently trying to use up Sunday Riley Artemis and Aurelia Cell Repair Night Oil - you use so little facial oil that a bottle lasts such a long time (I'm happy that I have used up two from last time). 

I invested in a more expensive retinol product, Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM that I have been using a couple of times a week.

Although it isn't pictured on the shelf I do have a bottle of eye make up remover that I am using but it is almost empty so I have it balancing upside down by my sink! 

Right now I have a lot of cleansers in stock but I am trying to use some up before cracking the new ones open hence I currently only have four in use, but I think they are a good selection that cover all my needs. 

I'm also currently trying to use up a lot of minis and samples (eye creams, serums, sun protection etc). Don't forget to check out my Empties posts to see how I'm doing with that and I will take another look at the shelf at the end of the year.
