Steve Jones first found fame as the Sex Pistol's guitarist. When the band broke up he embarked on a series of successful music projects and moved to L.A. Today he lives in Malibu and is the host of Jonesy's Jukebox a popular daily radio show. Steve also has a very popular and amazingly hilarious Instagram account.
Well, I do love a good rock and roll memoir and Lonely Boy is very good indeed! I sped though this book and relished it to the end. A lot of the story concerns Steve's difficult childhood and at times it tends to lapse into therapy type explanations for many things but rather than annoying me I found these insights to be interesting. I particularly loved reading about his life as a teenager in London and his part in the emerging punk scene but the whole book was excellent.
Recounted in Steve's unique style there were many scenes that made me laugh out loud (something that not many books do) and there were some wonderful expressions and turns of phrase.
It's not the most politically correct book you'll ever read but hey that's rock and roll (or punk rock) for you!
I loved this book.
Recommended.
